Well, I've given up on the V8 idea, and am just going to re-build my 300.
My plans are currently leaning towards using a GM 7730(2.8/3.1L V6, port injected) computer to run an EFI system, and using the DIS system that is commonly found with the computer. However, a bit of brainstorming, and chatting with discokin6 has me pondering injecting LPG. I had planned on running LPG as a primary fuel, with a gasoline backup, so, that mandates an EFI system so that the engine won't be built as a comprimise, but, I still can't quite figure out how to make the computer happy and shut down the injectors at the same time.
While pondering this, Maggo suggested adding a second fuel rail and injectors for LPG. I can easily burn a dual program chip, and, it wouldn't be that hard to switch the injector signals to the second set of injectors.
We were even contemplating injecting the LPG into the runners at the plenum to allow it to cool the charge as it evaporates, possibly even negating the need for a turbocharger with boost levels in the mid teens.
I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about a port injected LPG setup?
I have to maintain the dual fuel ability, I do live 300 miles from anywhere, and running out of fuel would be very bad mojo.
Unless I'm just plain missing something about shutting down the gasoline fuel system, I just can't see how to shut down injectors and keep the computer happy at the same time.
