just noticed today while putting a fresh coat of oil on my 2v head that one of the valve guides is broked and would like to know if you guys think its repairable. either weld a repair or thread on a repair seems possible to me, hate to even think that my oz head is junk because of this.

It's not hurt. When the head was drilled and reamed for guides, it left the guide boss thin. When the new guide was driven in, it broke off the thin part. The machine shop will have to install a different seal on that guide but it will be ok.

If you are worried, send me the head. Then it will be my worry. Yes, that is right, even tho I don't realy know you, I would take that burden off of your shoulders.

wow thanks that takes a huge burden of me. thaught it mite be ok but wasn't sure. now I can get along with my rebuild. so since i'm here is upgrading to bigger valves going to be worth it for a daily driver that'll never hit 5000 rpm?

Most heads will benifit from a mild port job. By mild, I mean go for quality not quanity. Radius the bowls under the valves and clean up casting flaws.

Larger valves may or may not make it better. It depends on how the machine work is done. If the machinist knows what a bowl hawg is, tell him NOT to use it. It kills the short turn radius and does more damage than good.
