It seems we're always talking Carb Adapters

I have built a few Adapters of my own and I have some ready to be cast one I find a foundry... But I was looking at the Olde School flat head adapters.

I know at face vallue they are crazy tech but how much gain did those guys get out of these. and what would it do for a turd head?

If anything I'm willing to try one.

Offenhouser and edlebrock sold these at one time.. there must have been some testing. if even just at the track.

if it wasn't for the carb being to tall those would be kind of cool on a six. If you were going to make a I 6 power roadstr it would be ok..

makes me wonder what the CFm rating on the carbs would be on such a setup...like a few 94's ... and what would be the performance gains...it seems like a higher RPM setup.

Thing is, the system as a whole can only flow as much as the largest restriction (to a first order effect, anyway).

Cramming two 1.5" venturi carbs through a single 1.5" hole isnt going to do you any good.

I reall seeing these in old books(I'm a retro fan) for several years.
I think I will hit up some of the oldtimers and see whats up.

Vintage speed still makes these and has a little article on the history and other manufacters of this device...

It looks cool, and that is worth something.

But thats it. Don't expect any real performance increase. It's just simple fluid dynamics.
