Kelly runs 12.49 (update 12.25)

The part that amazes most, is the fact that its a basically a stock six with a cam and a homemade turbo kit. Yet with all the money they have tied up in their V8 build ups, the little six is going down the track almost as quick, and sometimes faster.

Man we're having fun!
Thanks Mike for coming out on Sat! And thanks for bringing out the "speed parts"! :D
You can really see how "soft" Kelly's Falcon leaves the line as compared to most cars in that picture. Her car looks like it's just sitting there!
BTW in that Blue '69 Mustang will be in the Aug. issue of Car Craft! He's a friend of ours, Richard Parker. Unfortunately we had to race him during the first round of eliminations on Sunday. Kelly KILLED him on the tree with a .439 light to his .539 and ended up running a 12.77 on a 12.62 to take the win.
Kelly is doing a great job driving! She qualified 5th out of 38 cars by cutting a .409 light. The qualifiing ladder is based on reation time for the class we run. The class is Open Comp.

Kelly's car is DEFINITELY the talk of the class. The reaction we get from the spectators and fellow racers is nothing short of amazing! This one dude made a bee-line walk over to our pits after seeing Kelly's first pass yesterday. He was there right after we lifted the hood. His first comment.....HOLY SH$T!

Remember fellow 6-Bangers......it's good to be different!

wow. just, wow. plus a major congrats

i would resubscribe to M&F if they would do more six stuff rather than this___(insert mustang or fairlane here)___is getting a __5.0__ and an ___AOD____ and ___10,000 doller paint_____

jeez to i get tired of reading the same thing over and over.

in a couple of years i saw more falcons in carcraft than i did in about 6 years of M&F's...

Here's a shot from Saturday, during qualifing. Way to go Kelly.

kelly%20lanching.jpg

that picture is hilarious
reminds me of The Little Old Lady From Pasadena
the car doesn't look like anything, strip the stickers and it would appear to be your basic stocker... and then it goes and whups up on everyone

I think you need some steelies with dogdishes. and to ditch the stickers....go total sleeper with it

so at idle does that car get much of a turbo sound or is it just a plain sounding six?

Will, you need to never make Kelly mad at you. With reaction times like that she will smack you 4 times before you get your last word out!

To think of that little plain white falcon dissing that huge hood scooped, tire smoking, shiny blue Mach I has just given a lot of us the best 'evil smile' we could ask for. Thanks!

you can get a sheet of flexible magnetic junk and put the stickers on that. or maybe a hunk of plexi to hang in the side windows (with a lip on top to hold it in place)

Barrett,
Don't get to caried away! That Blue '69 Mach 1 does high 10's. So Kelly can't beat him heads-up......at least not yet!
She did eliminate him during the first round though! The Open Comp class is kinda like Bracket racing, but you're not able to change your dial in. It also runs on a Pro .4 tree.
And yes she's doing a VERY good job of driving! I'm VERY proud of her!
She cooks on the dragstrip, and at home! Damn, am I lucky or what?

Can't ditch the stickers, if you look close, there's a FSPP sticker in the window. 8)

Once the new aluminum heads are done, she will be in the 11's for sure. Kelly gets the first one off the assembly line. Gotta do my part as a sponser.

Will-

I swear I use a pic of your ride as motivation to get going on my turb'd 6. Keep up the great work, man!

I don't really like the stickers either. But if we win or runner-up at one of these events they will pay contingency. Which it usually adds up to be more than the prize money!
And as Mike (AzCoupe) said his sticker is also on there! And we're more than happy to do our part to help him out!
We also have a "Quartermile for a Cure" sticker on the back glass along with a Pink Ribbon to help bring awareness to Breast Cancer! So these two stickers aren't coming off either!

We're working on getting some different rims for the car. Kelly likes the "Salt Flat Specials" by American Racing. It'll still be cool looking but a little "retro" at the same time.
We've got some stock style steel rims we could throw on there with some Falcon hubcaps. If we did take the stickers off we could really terriorize the streets of Tucson! :D

62Fairlane170,
I forgot to answer your question earlier about how it sounds.
After the burnout the turbo is still de-spooling for awhile so you can hear a little whistle. But it's barely audible. Specially next to something with open headers!
At idle you'd never have any idea that there is a turbo on there. And it definately doesn't sound like a V8. It kinda sounds like a 6 with a glasspack! Right up until she floors it! Then is sounds like a pissed off 6 cyl. with a Hoover strapped to the front! :D
