Knocking noise

I would like to thank everyone who helped me with my starting problems on my 65 coupe 6 cylinder. It wound up being the fuel pump pushing out to many psi. I got it started problem know is there is a knocking noise. It is the first time starting up since I had the engine rebuilt. The noise is coming from the back of the engine towards the tranny. I can feel the knocking at the bottom back part of the oil pan. Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated. I tried to attach a short video of the knocking noise, not sure I did it right.

Sounds like something is not right.
Check the starter to be sure it isn't moving around.
If not, check clutch, flywheel, bellhousing and trans to bell housing bolts.
If non of them are loose, then see what's up inside the oil pan.

Good luck.

Do you have good oil pressure? if so, I would look at crank bolts loose or bolts hitting block plate or starter when engine is rotating.

That is the sound of something rotating and hitting something thin like the crank, rods hitting pan, is the pan dented in some? or bolts hitting block separator plate. or etc, take starter out and look for stuff hitting. Good luck.

These are some pics after I dropped the oil pan. The oil pan has a couple scratch marks where I believe something is hitting.

That does sound hollow-ish, like something wacking the oil pan, the shallow part of the oil pan doesn't have a lot of clearance to the rotating assembly.

Was typing when you posted, definitely hitting the pan with the connecting rod bolts. I'd hammer it down with a dead-blow or a rubber mallet.

Do Not Run car ! but...
run yourself back to rebuilder (AND installer if separate guys). Big mistake if noisy.

I did not play/listen to vid. U may save the FOPAH from more damage here. Personnel are Not right
to let something leave the shop (read: 'get paid') for something like that IF it came ouda there w/a noise.
Anything from bearings to oil pump, lousy break in, tranny input, con rod can cause a noise like U describe...

More info on: "...first time starting up since I had the engine rebuilt..." PLEZ. who built, any machining,
who installed - and the whole process. Hard enuff for remote diagnosis~
U should not B the one to: "...first time starting up..."
I'm onto givea listen~

✔️
(shoulda looked, will do so)
like said, run it back to the last one or 2 shops?
Detail ? ~

Hey so I tried banging the oil pan back into shape and I made it worse. Yes rookie mistake. So I bought a new oil pan. Can anyone give me tips on how to keep the gasket up while putting the pan up it comes in 4 pieces. Also the pan seems to not go flush up to the motor has anyone experienced this?
