Leaking spark plug on cylinder 4. What's wrong?

Around 10pm last night, while figuring out why my pony won't start, I saw my spark plug leaking on the 4th cylinder. Well, after 10 minutes of tinkering, I got a discharged battery. Good thing I have my series cable and a friend's car.

What's causing the leak in my spark plug? I had my car top overhauled six months ago with fresh spark plugs, oil, gaskets, contact point, condenser etc. Even the carb, an Autolite 1100 wasn't spared.

Thanks a lot.

wish i could help but i had the same exact thing on # 4. some people told me bad piston rings...i really have no idea

HELLO 66BUNNY

.....I HAVE A QUESTION. WHAT KIND OF LEAKING? DID YOU SEE BUBBLES...?...OIL...?....SPARKING OR FLASHING....?....SPRAYING GAS....?....WATER...? TELL US WHAT YOU ARE SEEING. THIS MIGHT HELP TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE.

had the strange problem with #3 oil on the spark [inside ] when the spark was out 1 side was oily and the other site was nice yellow, so a good spark fire , after cleaning the spark stil get,s oily al the time !!
maybe a valve stam leaking ore rings bad , dont now ,
oil pressure is good [ almost to good after the high volume new pump ]
al piston,s are nice and clean on the topsite exept nr 3 , oily on top !

stil dont no why ,and car is misfiring a little al the time !
got in mind to do a complete overhaul , so whe will see why nr 3 is oily !
maybe a headgasket ore leaking valve stam ore rings are bad !
whe wil see ! thats always the problem , could be so many thing,s not good , but witch 1 ? :?:

The spark plug is leaking oil?

Is it around the threads?
Is it on the electrode?

Is in on the porcelain part?

had same problem...turn out to be vavle seals AND head gasket..

Forgot to say. It's leaking around the thread. What will I do? I'm planning to put my recharged battery this weekend and work on it. And to top it all, my left rear tire was flat the following day.

Is the car starting?

The oil on the threads is probably a leak from your valve cover gasket. I had those all the time on my old engine. If you had oil on your electrode, that more then likely is either a bad valve seal or bad rings.

Anyways, it should not cause the car not to start. If you car isn't starting, your problem probably lies elsewhere.
