Let’s Talk Bearings

I’m getting close to ordering my bearings for my rebuild and was curious if anybody has any opinions good or bad on available bearings? For my build, they will all be replaced. All experiences welcome!
Do’s and don’ts are welcome too!

Brands on eBay I’ve been able to find:

Federal Mogul
Ford NOS
Michigan
Sealed Power
Clevite
Muskegon
Enginetech
Durabond
Vandervell

I have used sealed power before with no problems.
I would have to see the engineering specs on each bearing to give you a honest answer.
Some bearings are softer & will not score the crankshaft.
I remember the moraine bearings used to be very hard & would take more abuse, but would score the crankshaft cause it would not absorb small debris in the oil.
For street use anyone in your list will do the job. Bill

Thanks Bill, I didn’t want to go with cheapest route on the bearing. I’ve heard good things about the Clevite’s but they appear to be a little more expensive than the rest. Also, I wanted to make sure I avoided any known “garbage” products out there. I certainly appreciate the input.

King bearings are top quality, on a race type engine you can order mains with 270 degrees oiling & on all bearings they offer narrowed bearings for stroker cranks with large radius fillets.
True quality, but you pay for it.

good to know about king bearings.

:nono: One place that you NEVER do the "Cheap Charlie"deal is on engine internals.Put off the assembly if you have to to save up enough for the premium parts.
Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

Thus, the reason for the post! Wanted to make sure I didn't buy the cheap stuff. Although I'm on the frugal side, I will shop for the better price over time. I'm in no rush, so if I know what the quality manufacturers are, I will eventually find "quality at a bargain price"!
