disconnect all fuel and electrical lines and such things, take out the starter, hook up the cherry picker to the engine, unbolt the engine from transmission, add tension to the cherry picker, unbolt the motor mounts, put a block under the tranny and jack the tranny 1 or 2 times then jack the engine one or two times till the tranny is all the way up,then slide the engine out an put it on the engine stand.Did I forget anything?I always tape a big garbage bag over the bellhousing so I don't end up with a bunch of dirt/sand/dust/crap in there. Most importantly have fun and take your time.

ryan covered most of it, but in my personal opinion it's easier in the long run to pull the tranny with the engine. It can be a nightmare trying to put the engine in with the tranny already in the car. Getting the torque converter bolts to line up with the pressure plate and the bellhousing etc...

It only takes 15 maybe 20 minutes to drop the axle and tranny cross member. You will also have to disconnect the kickdown and shift linkage but that's like 5 minutes max.

Just my personal preference.

I like to leave the tranny but that's personal preferance and by the way you'll probably want to drain, disconnect and pull the radiator too.I'm such a dummy.

Pull the engine and tranny. Drain and inspect the tranny while it is out and accessible. Change the front and rear seals. Change the clutch if it´s a stick. Change the filter and front and rear seals, and throw in a shift kit if it´s an auto.

Do yall recommend dropping the tranny first and then pulling the engine, or just pulling them both out together?

i have been told to drain and remove the radiator and then remove front clip. it is easy and makes the engine/tranny swing right out...

note the "I have been told"

definately some good advice here. I say take the tranny out with the engine.

It took me three hours to get the tranny and engine to mate together putting the engine back in, also take the front grill off and the radiator out it is so much easier especially when you consider lifting the engine high enough to clear the plastic front grill, If you don't clear it you will be relplacing it, when it's broke.

I learned everyting I know from this website or screwing it up when I did it.

thanks for all the advice I get here.
