Locks and retainer part #'s?

Hi,

I'm just about to put my 79 250 head back together and I'm using the SS valves from classic inlines. I'm looking for a good retainer/lock solution. I don't even mind using stock retainers if I could find them new somewhere. I'm using a NOS dampened spring from Crower Cams (made for Aussie 200's I believe).

Anyway - could you guys let me know what your sources are for retainers?

Muchas gracias

Tyler

this question has been asked before, if you use the search feature you can find just about anything you want to know.

ford 4.0 v6 retainers will fit; and they're lighter, one piece designs.

ClassicInlines.com also has retainers, but i believe they only come with the springs, not seperately. i may be wrong though.

I've used the search feature and enjoyed the results. I also own the Ford Six Performance Handbook and appreciate the time and research that went into that.

However, I do wonder sometimes at the knee jerk reaction that seems to frequently occur on this and other forums to immediately squelch questions with "use the search!". If you don't know the answer to my question, fine. I'll use the search again to see if I've missed something. Granted, questions like "how do i turbo my mustang" and "what do i need for a granada swap" are severely, if not intentionly, ignorant. Use the search. But retainer part #'s? I'll guess I'll use the search again.

I already own a set of Ford 4.0 retainers. They are way too small in diameter... I'll double check the part # on these against the FSP handbook and post on the descrepancy if any.

The function of these forums is not only the mechanical exchange of information, but also to foster interest and excitement about a relatively obscure engine type. Sometimes that includes repeating or rephrasing something for the sake of an amatuer who has more enthusiasm than experience (perhaps the opposite of some of us).

There's nothing like a dead forum with the occasional "use the search" post to keep the spirit alive for Ford inlines.

No hard feelings Patrick.
