log head mods?

I had a question about modding a log head for more flow/power. could a tripower setup be put on top with non progressive linkage so they all operate in unison. the key idea is that if you could bore a round log to place two more plugs in it so that each carb only feed two ports. this would give a better low end throttle response and such but would require syncing the carbs as a drawback any input?

Once you get them hooked up, it'd be fine. You'd have to cut saw slots in the log and braze in blocking plates, as mentioned, but with a small "bleed" hole for vacuum equalisation. A regular carb shouldn't lose tune quite as quickly as an SU type in a similar situation.

But, if you want extra grunt and custom looks, two carbs will do nearly as well.

my other idea was to tak emy square log head and cut out between 3 and 4 where the carb mounts and weld up the ends of the logs and then machine for dual carbs

Dual carbs set up that way would give you a 180 degree pattern and would duplicate what you find on a lot of Brit six cylinder sports cars. A small balance passage will give you vacuum and will help idle quality.

I was also thinking about using dual carbs just like is mentioned above with the log seperated. Of course, it will only happen when the time and money part of my life actually allow it. Why is it neccessary for a ballance passage between the 2 seperate logs?

The balance passage will smooth out the pulsing and make the carb's mixing better. Otherwise, the vacuum is 'lumpy' and it messes up the flow. The automotive carbs are built for smooth, steady flow mixing, not pulsed mixing (like motorcycle carbs).
