hi first of all iam 21 so iam stupid about older cars, my dads a ford mechanic and has been for sometime but preferes the mainstream 289s 302s etc.

So i just bought a 1962 falcon 2dr with alot of problems it a 170 motor i was told they put a 200 head on it runs good i had to take the carb off my 66 mustang which i need to sell howeveri broke the mainshaft on the 2.77 trans. anyways i just bought of ebay a 73 mav carb and distributor hoping i can put these on my falcon.

The next big problem is the ford o matic trans in the falcon wont shift to 2nd tell its hot and alot of times i have to manually shift down to 1st to get it to go or it will feel like its in neutral. anyways how hard would it be to swap a 200 and c4 out of a 67 mustang into this car? any opinions owuld be appreciated as i have to drive this car to mc donalds and having 1 gear most the time sucks.

It's pretty much a bolt-in swap. Might have to use the newer driveshaft too, or get the old one modified to fit, and there might be some minor linkage issues. But everything else should just about work.

so yeah i talked to the guy the motor ran good he said he pulled from the mustang 2 years ago he said the tranny sliped a little he only drove it a mile however the car sat 8 years prior to driving so iam thinking it might have been low on fluid or the seals worn probably a can of trans x would help. anyways he said 150 for the motor and trans and the motor has a carb on it[/code]

So, I'm not entirely clear on your question, however -

The 200" in question is an essential bolt-in for the engine you have now. The C4 will require a different crossmember than the Ford-O, but it is avaliable on the aftermarket.

hi bort yeah basically i want to know what i need to drop the 67 mustang c4 and 200 into my 62 falcon so i can still have the coluum shift and i also want to know if the distributor i bought and the carb both from the 73 maverick will work and what i need to do to adapt them.

The distributor and carb from the '73 Mav should fit the '67 motor. The only thing I could think of is that the base of the carb might be too big for the '67 motor, but some dremeling of the carb spacer would probably fix that easily.

Is that a points distributor? I would choose the Duraspark II ignition over the points style. Hooking up Duraspark is really easy, its just a couple or 3 wires.
