In my neverending quest to get my drum brakes to work properly, I pulled apart the very stiff/sticky brake and clutch pedal assembly under the dash of my '63 Chero. What a mess! The pivot rod attatched to the clutch pedal had a groove worn 1/3 of the way through and it's mounting hole resembled a figure 8 more than a round hole.
The scrap yard wanted $50 for the whole assembly and who knew what kind of condition it would be in?
Luckily, I caught up with my first semester machining instructor and he let me fuss away on school equipment for a couple of hours. I'm happy to say my new "custom" parts work great and all I had to buy was new nylon bushings for $2.50.
Never be afraid to learn something new!
