Mini-starter

Hey guys, I found a good mini-starter that works with the 250 motor on Ebay. Remember, the 250 and the small block V-8 take the same starter. This would not work on a 200 motor. I just installed it and it works great and looks good too. Now when I install my headers I will have more clearance. With shipping it cost $66.00 which I thought was a great price. This is a brand new starter and is offered by the vendor A1TRUCK. Here is the description of the item:

Permanent Magnet / Gear reduction
Supplied with Harness Kit
Fits 1965 - 1968 Mustang w/289 A/T; 1968 - 1995 w/ 5.0 engine A/T PLUS MOST OTHER FORD CARS AND TRUCKS FROM 1962 TO PRESENT.
1/2 the size and TWICE THE CRANKING POWER
All new with anodized field case
Available for manual transmission also
Retrofits early 4 1/2 bulky starters
More header clearance
Reduces problems with hot start

Too bad it won't work with our "little" 200's

Powerband 8)

Hi all,

When I searched for this, I noticed in Summit that the numbers for a stock starter were the same for the 200 (w/ C4) and the FE motors, so I took a chance and ordered a gear reduction mini for the FE to see. It fit fine on my motor, but fried after about 4 months. I returned the former, and since I needed a starter pronto to get to work in the morning, I opted for a new one at Kragens.

Anyone else using a mini starter from an FE motor?

Yes, the starter is also available to fit manual tranny's. You have to pick the proper unit on ebay...there are two different ones.

Works just fine on my 1982 engine (BB 200)

I don't know if my PMGR is for auto or manual but it works anyway.

I have the same one and it fit fine on my 83 200 as well as the 250. It gives me clearance from the dual outlet header on low mount starter engines.

Hey powerband, how do you post pictures directly onto your posts like you do?

He has the pictures uploaded into "photobucket", an online hosting.

You sign up for photobucket, then upload pictures from your computer into your photobucket account, then you copy and paste the photo address and post it here using the IMG tags.
