There's some info I'm sending you from David Vizard and another from a Practical Gas Flow book.
You've seen how my port mismatch plates are used on my Falcon x-flow? The intake port should be bigger than the intake mainfiold. I made some half inch plates out of tooling plate aluminum. Very easy to build. Normally, the intake port is 33 mm , or 1.28" or so. How much bigger are they? These plates I use induce turbulent flow, and this stops reversion, or back flow. There's lots I've learned on the way.
Any cutting into the shortside radius is a no-no, especially on the Falcon x-flow. The port angles were almost perfect. But I'm sure you can make this bad situation work for you. As for the intake insert, all alloy heads had inserts, it remains for you to ensure they are the correct interferance fit. I'd want to be sure they weren't gonna drop out, then grind them flush , and then 3 or 4 angle back-cut. If that looks to hard, take 'em out, and do it again.
Devcon, JB Weld etc needs to be pegged into the head with a self tapper screw or capscrew, or something which won't budge.
The best option is to return the shortside radius back to normal.
