Sorry for not posting anything on the last thread, but I have a sinking feeling I know what was the issue in the first place... probably bad oil and maybe bad lifters? Iono...

Now, here is the NEW plan. Instead of going hardcore with the 200, I'm going straight to a 250. I plan on running either a 264 or a 272 duration cam. I'll do all the conventional mods you guys suggest... decking the block, milling the head, porting and polishing, 3-angle-job, yadda yadda...

So, for the questions... where can I find the Offenhauser adapter? If it is no longer made, how hard is it to place studs on the intake manifold so I can retrofit three carbs on the manifold?

Also, what vehicles had disc brakes that could be used on the 71 Maverick? I believe the Lincoln MkVII, later Mavericks, Granadas, Monarchs, am I missing anything...?

I have an offy manifold for my 200 on order...they are backorder until March 3rd so if u want one be prepared to wait.

Don't 0 deck the block AND mill the head. Or if you do make sure you do the math first and don't wind up with a CR of 11.5:1 like I did. The Ford Falcon Performance bookby the Schjeldahl brothers should be bought and read cover to cover before you do anything. It will save you a lot of money and give you great direction.

Listen to the other guys on this forum, they have a lot of wisdom and experience...

WOAH! Fast responces! I need to read the handbook again about quench... maybe I'll hold off on milling the head. Thanks for the heads up...

Edit: Apparently, a 250 with a deck height of .025 and a compressed head gasket of .5 overbored .030 will have a compression between 9.4 and 9.8 depending on the combustion chamber size which is based on the head... may want to really check on that.
