I am having trouble hooking up my 6AL to my Duraspark. I am using a GM module but would like to get rid of it and just use the MSD box as the module. I have been told that this is possible. Am I wrong? I would have hooked it up with the GM module but I did not see any way to do it. Is there something I am missing?

MSD sells a Ford adapter that plugs right into the clip on the Durasaprk Dizzy, or you can cut the clip off and wire it directly, there are instructions on how to hook it up either way... I got the adapter that was the easiest and cleanest way....

If you search MSD on Summit and look for Ford Wiring Adapter you will find it....

Hope this helps?

Ok, I am messed up on this one. Like I said I have mine wired up with the GM module just like the picture in the link you gave me. I have three wires going to my coil. One is a 12V switched from my cars old wiring, then the other two go to the moduel and then to the dis. The MSD pics in that link are only using one or two of the wires from the coil. So what do I need to do?

Dan,

I wired mine EXACTLY like this yesterday,

It was kinda wierd wiring it up because you unhook the duraspark module altogether which has 2 plug ins in it. I used the adapter harness from msd which connects the msd box to the distro using the one of the harnesses and the other harness basically gets unplugged, wires cut and taped so they dont short out and gets tucked away.

I think there was 2 extra STOCK wires in my main harness that I didnt use. Then the tach wire gets changed from the coil to the tach output on the msd box.

The c+ wire in the picture gets unhooked from the coil then plugs into the wire from the msd box....I had troubles "visualizing" that one for awhile and it gave me some problems

When using the MSD, you no longer need the GM module. yank it.

DII Distributor hooks to the pickup end of the MSD using either the adapter or connectors, red wire to the 12V switched, Tape off the white wire, hook the orange and black to the coil, and hook up 12V (not switched) and ground to the MSD.

I put a 30A fuse into the main 12V wire and a 20A fuse into the switched wire, just for safety. Use a 10 gauge wire for the unswitched 12V and Ground. This thing pulls a good bit of current.

Thanks for the help guys. I am almost sure we wired it up just like you guys said. My car would not run though. It had some kind of spark but it still would not run. The MSD mox is used but it was just on my friends car a few months ago and it ran fine on it so it should be good right? I don't know. I guess I can try it again and see if I had something hooked up wrong. Well, thanks again for your help. I would be lost without you guys! I will let you know if it works when I get a chance to mess with it.
