can anybody answer WHATS SO GOOD ABOUT FLOWMASTER MUFFLERS??? im building a 200 for a 63 falcon. been looking at muffler prices. it will have pacemaker headers on motor. all i want is a mello sound not real loud. dont want to sound like airplane taking off. any suggestions other than flowmaster. thanx for any response.

It's just a particular sound that people like. And a trendy name. :roll:

Personally, I think some of the best mufflers, in terms of quality and sound, are Borlas, Magnaflows, and Bullets. I like the Bullet stainless turbo mufflers best of all. I've never seen one rust out, and they sound very rich, but mellow enough not to annoy. Sometimes it's hard to find a distributor, though.

i personally have dual glasspacks on, i love the sound. when i pull next to someone they give me and say "what kind of things have you done to that 302" i laugh and tell them it's an inline 6, then when the light turns green do a nice little burn out 8)

I am with Nathan, I am also running dual glasspacks, except as header mufflers, it gets pretty intense driving on the highway but the gears dont seem to help much the motors really going at highway speeds... leaving a family get together I had an uncle ask if I had changed the motor in it, he thought it was too deep to be a 6. I like it, I wanted to go with flowmasters but they were on the expensive side for me, so I went to the parts store and paid 50 bucks for mine. I need ot get the car done, but I'm on vacation, and now I have school again, and homework, and work in general....

Get Walker dynomax super turbo mufflers.

You will not be disappointed. Glasspacks are just too raspy for me.

The $19.95 turbo mufflers you get the from the parts store sound really nice, too.

As the unnofficial Flowmaster spokesman, I will answer your question as best as I can. I have heard numerous mufflers on the inline six, from crappy glasspacks to dual headers and Borlas. Single exhaist and duals alike. Dual flowmasters always sounded best comin out of a dual header. Maybe it personal preference, but I swear Flowmasters are the only mufflers that truely sound like a pissed off 351. I thought long and hard about many different mufflers but the Flowmaster 50 series was what I got. The 50s are loud on the outside, but if you roll up your windows, they arent bad at all...actually cant really hear them that well and if you have ANY music goin at all, you wont hear a thing. Some complain about a "drone" around 2500 RPM, but I always thought that was my favorite part about the system. I would love to leave it a gear too low and run around parkin lots at about 2500 and watch people turn and look. ANYways, look around for sound clips and make your own decision, but trust me, Flows wont let you down! And for the trendy name...Im not sure about that one :roll: How is "Bullet" or "Turbo" or "MagnaFlow" any different, lol. Let us know what you end up choosin!

Wonder what dual Flows will sound like through a stock manifold Jpiped to a turbo then through a 3" downpipe Y-ed to 2.5" pipes leading to the mufflers...I feel like i did before I got the Flows put on, the thoughts of soundin like a ricer ran rampant through my head. BUT, once I fired her up they were scared away

I'm with 66sprint, I got dual Flowmaster 50's put on mine and they sound awesome. They are pricey but definitely worth it. They are a little loud on the outside but if you are driving you can hardly hear them. If you turn your radio off and listen to the mufflers at like 50mph they sound great. I have already had a few people tell me it sounds like I've got a smallblock in my car. it's kind of fun to rev your car in the parking lot and hear the car alarms go off

Its alot of fun having them exit out the sides, you can listen to it bounce off walls and buildings and stuff. Puttin off car alarms NEVER gets old. I expecially love tunnels and parking garages too, the sound is amazing

Matt, you aren't turbo yet, are you? I was under the impression that falls into "near future projects"

Once you have a turbo on you won't use mufflers, the turbo quiets things down - - A LOT. A buddy of mine complains I am too quiet!! It is a 3" straight pipe all the way from the turbo to the 3.5" chromed tip that dumps in front of the passenger tire.

When my neighbors are on the front porch, and I am "testing" 3-4 blocks away, they say they can never hear me. Stealth is good.

It was a near future thing, but once the timing chain went out, I decided to build the motor up for the turbo and go for it. Right now the turbo is being rebuilt, once its back its on with the show!!! Its a good ways off tho, the motor is complete and ready, but we still have alot of fabbing pipes, mounts and messing with the fuel system to go. I know about the turbos bein ALOT quieter, wish I could have the performance of the turbo and the sound of the old headers and flows. OH well, gotta sacrifice somewhere, lol

I love my flowmasters!!!! No one believes my car is an inline, people who heard it before had to lift the hood to make sure I had the same motor. Why get flowmasters??? because they sound AWESOME and turn heads everywhere

i just want to make sure before i sink a bunch of money into exhast work. when i was younger i had a 250 inline chevy with dual glasspacks with 4 speed tranny. you could hear me coming a mile away. im much older now and just want a not too loud mellow sound. thanx cocacolaman

flowmaster makes a 50 series delta flow SUV, dual in dual out, .

1) if it fits under the car
2) would it sound like a single exhaust again??

I've been running the Dynamax super turbos for about a year and in a couple of weeks I'll be installing my new 40 series Flowcans.....I just luv how they sound!
