i want to get the motorcraft fl-299 but every local auto store doesn't have them, some even pull out there book and say that motorcraft never made that one try the fl-300. anyway were can i get one

If you're looking for the extra capacity of the larger filter, and not necessarily the brand, try looking for a Wix 51773, a NAPA 1773, an AC PF-42, Purolater R17, or Fram PH977A. All have aproximately the same extra capicity. All are not created equally and all vary in price considerably- which may or may not be a reflection of quality.
I use the Wix brand on my RV 460 V8 and my Ranchero 250.
