if anyone has any advice regarding fabricating plenums, please speak up! is there a formula for calculating the optimum volume of the plenum?

I pulled a couple of valves out today. the tops of the valve guides have been machined to accept push on style seals rather than umbrellas. rekon i should use them or stick with the umbrellas?

Definitely use the umbrellas if you can, the others tend to starve the valve of oil because they do seal too well. But, if you can put in bronze guides, that is also a plus.

Well, looking at some of your other posts, since you just spent a bunch of money on a head rebuilt and are considering a boost set-up, I would say either a 350 or 500 CFM 2 barrel carb either directly mounted on the log or with an adapter.
