my though for invention is like this cap off the one barrel hole and weld on some tubes with flanges on the side of the log and mount some sidedraft carbs.. anyone ever seen this or tried or even remotely thought of doing this?? if so is it even worth the expense and headache??

Yeah there are older posts (search through them) people have hacked off the whole log and made a new manifold. Don't remember what the results were. So the answer is yes if you know how to weld cast iron (not so easy but its doable) or can get it machined so you could bolt on your new parts.

There was one on ebay a while back with trip dcoe's on the side of the log. I wonder if anyone has a pic of it?

As far as trouble and expense, depends on what your expectations are and how much you do yourself. You can't make N/A power without airflow; the log head doesn't flow a lot of air. Going through the archives, 'Fast64Ranchero' had 165cfm @ 28" with pro portwork on his milled off log head, IIRC.

Think I seen one or both of those article back then is great that you found it. There was also several articles done later were he used a Maverick think he ran it against a Boss 302. I used to work at the old Ford assembly plant in Pico Revera so went to his shop a few times after work was a nice guy. :thanks:

hey sctty have you seen 2v conversion on the inline classics.it seems the best tech for a log head today is a good ol autolite.
dependable and easy to tune and upgrade as you build up.

im running an auto, does anyone have any ideas on the kickdown linkage with an autolite? or holley-weber progressive? btw yah ive seen the conversions, just thought of doing something different, but i dont want to compromise the dependability once it is finally tuned.*dont wanna goto pull out of the parking lot at the mall and it fall on its face and have to get out and fuss with the carb(s).* thanks for all the advise and input. i Have a few other things i wanna adress, im thinking of putting a camshaft in this lil baby, which would u suggest the 264/264hyd, 264/274hyd, 278/278Solid, or shoud i go with a comp cam 260, or isky 252 , 260h?? ANY INPUT , I HAVE A 9.1 DYNAMIC. Ratio. ported heads, gonna fab a log exhaust from pipe. i saw a turbo log that caught my eye and it looked awesome painted with silver header paint and ground smooth. :thanks: :!: 8)

I don't know of anyone running stock kickdowns with a carb swap.
You might have to go to a Lokar cable setup on that.
That's the primary reason I'm still running the stock carb on my modified engine. I'm sure someone here will tell you to just forget it and downshift! :x

And with whatever cam you get make sure it has a 112° LC so you have some vacuum.
I prefer hydraulic lifters because I have no experience setting valve lash and would rather do something else.
I'm running the 264/274 and I think anything bigger would be nasty on the street. As it is I gained at least 30mph on the top end over my stock Fairmont.
