The only thing that's kept me from doing it so far is getting the belt up through the rear shelf - or are you going around/above it?

Okay, the job is done! And it works well!

The belt runs up in front of the shelf. The retractor unit is placed next to the doorsill (rocker channel) right near the back of the seat. This gives the belt enough of an angle as it goes up to the B-pillar so that it only rubs gently on the shelf.
