Need confirmation that my harmonic balancer is toast.

Well, I discovered a few weeks ago that my harmonic balancer had slipped (causing me all manner of timing woes until I verified TDC). Since then, I've started noticing an odd vibration between 1600-1800 rpm. A visual inspection of the balancer while idling revealed visible wobbling. I assume that it needs to be replaced. How likely is it that the balancer would come apart while being driven?? Or should I park it until I replace it?

Any companies offering a better deal on a dual groove balancer than the folks at damper doctor?

A mate of mine lost his balancer while out driving. It lunched the radiator before whizzing across the road and shattering the plastic sign/priceboard outside a service station. Amazingly, nothing else on the busy road was struck by the runaway damper.

So yes, they can come off unexpectedly.

Change it now! You need a dual pulley harmonic balancer? I've got one that I don't need, but it's not pulled, and about 50 miles north of me. Where do you live? I could sell it to you cheap.

Okeydokey... guess I'll be driving her nice and slow, if at all until I get this fixed!!

Yup, dual pulley (water pump and a/c).
