I have everything ready for my engine swap to the 200 except for the replacement headers and exhaust.

Can anyone offer and suggestions on an inexpensive header that fits the 200 in a EB? there appears to be plenty of room sideways, its only the space between the engine and hood that has limits. Due to that limitation, it seems I am stuck with the 1101 carb.

Also with the header, what else should I do with the exhaust to get a nice low sound (I dont want a loud hot rod just a cool sound that fits the image of the original early broncos) and maybe split it off to two tail pipes?

I appreciate your ideas and thoughts.

Inexpensive header? No such animal. The ones that Mike has seem to be the best quality and are as cheap as they come. He has dual outs, and a Y-pipe to make a single out if you want. Flowmaster 50's have a deep tone that isn't too loud (for me) but I like Dynomax or Magnaflow better. Regular glasspacks sound good to me too.

I always laugh when people ask that because we are all so behind mike with the parts....

That sticky isn't up yet? :D

Anyhow, Mike is the best guy to go to for parts...we all know this. He's a standup guy that is helping us all out, so I have no problem supporting him.

Even if all I've bought is the Falcon Six Handbook

Well I have an excuse. The Comet is getting a big overhaul when I get home...maybe I'll get a job soon so I can get one of the new heads.

So, Flowmasters vs. Magnaflows: which is better? I'll try to dig up those sound clips I posted a while back.

Edit: Found it. Most of the links still work.

Found it.
This is 63droptop's I believe. He has a slight cam too.

Might as well post the rest I found.

Spences66six, true duals with glasspacks and turndowns just before the rear axle.

x21's stock inline six, 200 cid, one 1978 exhaust manifold, stock single pipe leading to a $20 cherry bomb with a turndown in front of the rear axle.

cfmustang's 200 cid with .030 overbore and head milled .060", Clifford dual outlet header through Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers, Clifford Weber 2bbl adapter with a Weber 38/38 DGES, Clifford 272 degree hydraulic cam, 1.75 Intake & 1.50 Exhaust SI values (undercut and a 3 angle valve job).

80Stang's 200 with a Dynomax Super Turbo and too many engine mods to list here. Go here to see them.

And lastly here is a video of Okefenokee Comet's 200 with dual out header and Borla XS mufflers.

Enjoy. I like those Dynomax the best I think...

Cherry bombs sound sweet! I think I'm gonna throw one on my Mustang. I really liked the sound of that. What's a good size? I was looking at the 3 1/4" x 7 3/4", 16" length. 2" in and out pipe. Sound alright for my 200?

i did a custom exhaust on mine were i kept the stock exhaust manifold and then split the down pipe into two with the y-pipe and i used two flowmasters american thunder 40 series and then ran it over the axle and out the back... nice sound with the 200 made it sound like there was an 8 under the hood. not too loud though
quiter than when it had no exhaust for 3 weeks

Thanks. One reason I was asking is because I have never purchased headers and I do not know the brands, the names, the prices, etc.

Thanks again.

heres mine with a pacemeaker header from Mike at classic inlines, with some glasspacks and ummm maybe turndowns? I dunno if I had them then... it didnt really sound like that it was REALLY deep and cruising at 70 you couldnt hold a normal conversation with the person next to you, it was quite a bit above a normal talking level.

a video

yeah now i really want to see it

how does everybody feel about thrush turbo mufflers, and does anybody make dual exhaust for the inline 6 with dual out headers?

Muffler's are really a subjective matter.

Everyone likes what they like. They are cheap enough too that you can try a few out to see what you like best ;)

As far as Mike's products - yeah, we all think they are great. The only thing I wouldn't buy from him is a DUI and that's cause I think the DSII is a better deal.

Altho, I've never bought anything either. hahahah
