Assuming 262 Ford:-
The 262 has the same bore spacings as the 239-312 V8'S, no? Like 4.4 inches between holes?
Well, there is a way to make it work. Just read David Vizrds SOHC 2000 cc Pinto engine book, released in the mi 1980's
He goes into what you need to build performance with in a budget.
15.5:1 is way to high, even with methonol and the best water injection system. The head could stay as it is, with about at 7.5 to 8: 1 compression, run it on hi-test gas, and use three side draft DCOE 45 Weber carbs with a blower hat on each, linked into two Eaton M90's or suchlike mounted each side of the engine like A/C compressors. Keep it very simple. Focus on making sure it never runs out of fuel at high rpm. Run it as per the earlier Lotus Esprit Turbo set up. As soon as you go injection, you are in the realm of rocket science, or needing rocket fuel (ie $$$$) to make it work.
How much budget tells you how fast you can go!
Lookm at SATURN 5's ride. Launch control, Houstan , we have lift-off!
