I think I am going to tackle my cooling problems myself and change the pump, themostat and genreally look at the radiator

so I have some ?'s

I need
1) water pump
2) gasket for pump
3) thermostat (160 dcegrees right?)
4) gasket for the water neck
WHAT ELSE?...

do I need to take off the fan and balancer?
and if I do upgrade the radiator..is it the 3 row I need...or 4?

I am going to do a chrome water neck, some braided hose covers copefully and paint the pump...hopefully

Describe your heating problem details mor ein depth -
how long until it gets hot,
when it gets hot,
what fan do you have,
in a shroud or no?
etc. etc ect.

A bucket or pail for draining the coolant into. Also, a contingency plan in the event of a stuck or broken bolt.

New hoses
Hose clamps
Anti-seize for bolts (or, waterproof grease)
New fan belt
Recovery type cap?
Expansion bottle?

HAY CHAZ
You'll have to remove the fan and it pully to put on the new pump anyway but if you can take the pump out with it on then go head... I think with wenter comming on you might want to go with a hotter thermo stat.
2core high flow or a 3 core.

Is your heater core hooked up?
They can be clogged too. Maybe flush it with just the hoses hooked up?
I replaced my busted one with a "heavy duty" replacement. It had 3/4" pipes instead of 5/8". Dunno if it makes a difference but under extreme or problem conditions it might.

You'll get better gas mileage with a 180 or 195 thermostat and a 3-row radiator.
