Just got it installed yesterday ... it's a rebuilt 78 engine. I'm waiting on the correct damper to get it running though ... I'm also waiting on an Autolite 1101 I got from eBay so I can use one of those aftermarket 6-cylinder HiPo look-alike air cleaners on it ...

I had to really shop around for that red dizzy cover on my Duraspark ... apparantly they have been discontinued and now only come in grey. I found an autozone that still had an old one in stock.

That's nice. Do you get asked to hire it for films or anything; it's so period-correct and not overmodded on the outside?

Looks great. Can I ask where you found your alternator bracket? The only one I could find in a junkyard for my falcon w/ a 250 was for an a/c equiped granada so it's a huge bracket. I'd love to find a sans a/c alternator bracket!

Also, is that your a/c bracketed to the passenger side of the block?

Let us hear after you fire things up!

Jim

The alternator is actually mounted below the A/C compressor on the passenger side. The bracket your see on the driver side is for the power steering pump ... which has been painted red and is currently drying ... This car was originally a 250 so all the brackets are original ....

Well damn, I didn't know both Dan and Maverick Man were on here.

I helped Dan drop the engine in Sunday morning and let me tell yall, that is one clean Maverick. :D

I've had luck with Krylon's fusion line of spray can paint for plastic. Used that to paint a dizzy cap and it held up well. When it is time to change your cap, perhaps you would be able to turn a grey cap red? Also can paint the MSD cap adapter if you are using one of those. The engine looks good!

Thanks for the kind words all ... My other Maverick is much cleaner but it's a V8 ....

Here's the picture of the air cleaner made for the 1100/1101 carb ... it's sitting on top of my YF so it's higher than it should be ... it's gonna be a tight fit near the shock tower brace but I am thinking it may fit with no massaging. I've already painted the base Ford Red instead of the blue you see in the picture. Here's a pic of my V8 Grabber too ...

 Love the V8 version as well!! I have several sets of those body-colored 'Bullet' mirrors lying around someware. I have two Maverick's myself(a '70,& a'71 4-door,both sixes....). I also have a couple of those 'vintage' Ford front 'plates 8) too. Mine are the earlier version with the Lightbulb riding on a pair of 'slicks,......very wacky :P . Once again, very cool rides ya got there   :wrench: !!!! OO6.

I'd like to see the plates you have with the lightbulbs on slicks ... interested in selling one? :D

That red one looks twice as good in person as it does in the picture. In my mind, it is without a doubt, THE nicest 71 Grabber there is anywhere, period. That car is like a museum piece, but it does actually get drove! The car is flawless inside, outside and under the hood. And as much as I like these little six cylinders, it would be a crime to have not put a V8 in the red one. :)

Sorry Dan, hope I'm not embarrassing you.

Maybe someday mine will look half as good as those.

If Starsky-&-Hutch drove a Maverick,...it'd be that one.^^^. As for the promo 'plates,I'll hafta see....they're extremly hard to find(I have 4 of 'em,collected over a period of 15 years  .....not at all easy to find...). These were origionally handed out at dealerships :) . OO6.

Tell me a price .... it's for my Red Grabber that is strictly show so it's worthy of the plate ... it will not get abused .... :D

I never did post pictures of the final product ... here it is ....

Slick ride, I'm sure you will be glad to get it running.

If it runs as good as it looks you will be very satisfied. William

Beautifull Mavericks you have there.

Reminds me of my dad's first brand new car he bought when we came to Canada back in 1970.
He waited a year and bought a 71 Maverick Grabber - just like your red one with stripes, hood bulge & all, cept his had the 250 motor.

The cars long gone but I took the motor out & now it resides in my 1981 Stang......
