just bought 1966 stang with sprint 200 want to beef it up but don't know where to start. Can anyone help?

how much are you willing to spend?

first thing to do, order this book
http://falconperformance.sundog.net/

what's your ultimate goal for the car? what do you want to do with it? daily driver? dragstrip car? other?

by the way... you're going to get about five different suggestions for your "first step"
Ignition is one of the most important though

Welcome; just one suggestion the others have left out. Swap the US Army email visible on the page, for a Yahoo or Hotmail account in case you get "junk" mail. Saves the Government paying for spam; saves you the inconvenience of deleting it.

Regards, Adam.

Welcome, as far as performance just surf the forum. Quality parts are available from one of our moderators Mike @ www.fordsixparts.com is the owner of this business.
There are other suppliers to. Again welcome aboard, let your wallet be your guide to power. HP costs $$ Its your choice. William

the .army.mil email address is ok addo. The army supplies it to us to use and it is very heavily filtered. I still use my Army account (retired) for a lot of the business I do with the military and for personal email.

To all that replied to my cry for help, thanks. The car will be a daily driver but I do want it to have some kick looking to finish with around 300 hp if possible it will be a slow process but that is the ultimate goal. Will start with the tips you all have given and again thanks.

JIM

if you stay with the stock head, 300HP will be pretty impossible unless it's got forced induction, or nitrous

however, there are a few aftermarket heads that are out now, or in the process of being developed that should help you get that much

Welcome...

First thing to do...get the falcon performance book, spend the $50 on a real shop manual for your car (not a haynes or chiltons, a real ford shop manual), and then get an electronic ignition (pertronix being the easiest for a starter).

Again...welcome to the sickness of six
