New Power Steering Pulley

Has anyone bought one from the vendors? I received mine in the mail to find it was larger than the original and has a different offset. The larger size will probably be better due to the slower speed and resulting increased steering effort. The difference in offset is not good. Can I put a shim behind the pulley before installing it? Since its an interference fit I'm concerned the thing won't stay on at speed. Its a pricey piece so I dont want to jack it up experimenting.

Have you checked with the vendor to see what the deal is? Maybe there are differnt ones for differnt apps and you got the wrong one for some reason. If its the typical press on one I dont think I would try to shim it. If you could shim the whole pump maybe but if you spent some bucks on the thing I would contact the vendor and see if there is a correct one for your app.

Just a side note here...
If you're worried about shimming the pulley forward on the pump, you could probably shim the whole pump assembly forward instead.
Would accomplish the same thing, and wouldn't mess with the interference fit of the pulley.
Is there room to move the pump forward?
How much variance are we talking about here?
