Hi there, I'm new here. Looking to buy a 65 mustang convert all restored. I've seen 2 I like, and may buy next week. 200-6 engines in both. Looking to keep it fairly orrig. Would like to port the log entrance and make my own adapter for whatever carb is best for this setup, (float bowl foreward), exh dividers and do a mild port job w flame hardened seats, distributor, mild cam, and hearder. Want the best expert to recommend a package. Is a carb from a 300 cu in 6 good enough or should I do the holley 350? Are exh ports simezed? How involved is that? So to recap Q's
Can you recommend good, smooth, quiet, efficient;
Carb?
Dist?
Cam?
Head wk?
Header? as a package, I'll do it all this winter.

To add to what Doug posted...

Exhaust ports 3 and 4 are siamesed and you should get the exhaust port divider from Clifford or Auto Krafters.

The Carter YF is a good upgrade for a near stock engine. A Holley 5200 is a better upgrade for a warmed over engine. The Holley 350cfm or 500cfm 2bbl seems to be the best upgrade for a log head 170-250.

All of the carb uprades will need an adapter plate.

And for whos the expert? You cant go wrong with advice from Doug. Just look at the smokey burnout his Stang pulled off and it will remove any doubt of whether the I6 can make enough power.

Thanks a bunch guys. I did read lots of threads before I asked, didn't want to ask stupid Q's.

If you dont know or arent sure its not a stupid question. We dont tend to flame people here.

If you have a question ask. Its the only way you'll get the answer.

If people were flamed for stupid questions, or just for having a TON of them, I would be burnt to a crisp. These guys are great, ask them everything about your build and you will never go wrong!!!!!!
