I'm using an Edelbrock system with a NOS 2BBL plate and I love it. :D N2O has a very good (read cheap) initial expense, but, filling the bottle gets boring really fast.
On the good side, you're not under power ALL the time, so you can have a mild engine, and transform it with a 50 or a 75 shot!

+1

The other problem is the tendency to think that if a 50 shot is good, a 75 shot must be better. Eventually, this sort of conduct leads to loud, expensive noises emanating from what used to be the engine.

If you can keep from fiddling with it, this becomes much less of a problem, but if you could keep from fiddling with it you'd be unlikely to add giggle gas in the first place.

I had a 250 with nitrous it was a powershot fogger system .I ran 13.80s with that ,it felt like it had a big block when I would spray it-lots of fun, freaked out a lot of people too.

How much juice can a stock bottom end take before it will die? is 75hp too much?

This is what I have been thinking about for my setup

'80 head, ported, 3angle valve, port devider
300cfm autolite
6>1 headers, 2.25" exhaust

I have the head and carb ready to go on the engine this spring, I will have the headers by the time I will put the head on. I've been thinking about nitrous (just for fun  ) and I saw that kit for holley 2bbls but it is a 75hp shot.

will that plate work on a holley 4412
and id like to second that uestion on how much can a stock bottom end take before u hear loud noises and see internal engine parts bouncing off the hood

I dont think a 75 shot is too much,If you think about it my car ran 16.0s and when I sprayed it it went 13.80s,that got to be more than a 75hp increase-I never had bottom end trouble, broke a cast piston once

100 HP shot would be as far as I would go with the stock CAST pistons. Also take into account that the "log" manifold is know for leaning out cylinders, which can cause a nitrous rich conditions...... which is BAD!
In order to play it safe, a fogger system is the better choice.

You could also make sure you are running more fuel than recommended...to be on the safe side.

Nitrous is WAAAAY harder on engines than boost because the pressure spike during combustion is way higher. Boosted engines have a gentler power stroke, where nitrous engines burn with more of a "bang".

nitrous is a good way to give you the extra power when you need it but i know people who have run nitrous and due to the expenses and what they got out of it have now decided to run 100% octane instead and like it better

I hope you have your "flame suit" on!!
Increasing octane of the fuel DOES NOT increase power!! (only change)

well then again hes drag racing motorcycles... but anyways he like the 100 oct instead of running the nos on his bike

I got away with a 100 shot with cast pistons for a long time! I would not go much more than that but you could try it. Just make SURE you have enough fuel!!!!

I ran a 125hp set up on a stock 302 'cept for a 4 bl and intake. Difference was unbelievable, never did hurt anything!
