got the break-in oil out and some fresh Valvoline in. Time to stretch the tach a little easily hitting 70MPH in 2nd on old 277 tree speed. The old 144 could hit 40-50. Decided it was broke in enough to fine tune things a little--looked down the carb with the pedal floored and low and behold there's a good bit more gas to be gotten. Did a little elemental geometry on the pedal and cable and now she will open up all 3 carbs completely. Took her for a quick trip down the deserted back flats. thought i saw 80 in second , but was too busy hanging on to gawk at it. got her back to the barn and decided that 3 gallons of gas in ten miles was a bit excessive -but man she'll fly. Interesting note the old 7.25" rear end will smoke BOTH back tires everytime i lite them up even floating the rear end side ways-- didn't know they made those things in other than a 1 wheel spin model.
