I'm sorry, I thought you ment casting pics. My bad!

I'm working on 3 different builds right now.

1. Is a N.A. truck 300 with max torque in mind and a redline of 4500.

2. Is a Turbo 300 with max Mid range power in mind, redline of 5500.

3. Is a 240 with a solid roller cam and all the goodies, redline of 7500. I have not decided on N.A. or Supercharged. Time will tell. I already have the solid roller lifters and titanium valves for this one. Thanks Ebay :D

Yeah, but Big John isn't exactly concerned with low-RPM torque, drivability or how well it survives bumper-to-bumper traffic. More airflow = more HP but it also requires more revs. which ultimately will sacrifice the bottom end of the rev band

I'm glad you brought that up SR. How quickly would you see deterioration of low end torque as you exceed the optimum port area with maximum flow bowl diameter on our 300 heads? 'Just curious, and seein' as how you've got such a handle on this...

I can live with an 800 rpm bottom, but not much more.

Thanks for your patience,

Interesting thread! Just a note on shrouding, years ago I stopped by to see an old friend when I was on vacation. He dragraced a 64 Falcon with a 289. Just had the heads redone, was running high 12's I think. This machine shop convinced him that a spare set of valves they had out of a 428cj would really wake his engine up. Result? 13.40's or something like that! :x
After aguing with them, they convinced him that the new valves flowed so much better he had to tune it all different, then it would pick up! I told him to go somewhere, anywhere else! Since then, he put 351c heads on with a B&A intake, got it into the 10's then sold it.
Shrouding sucks!
