the pump arm rides on the camshaft and oil does enter pump housing. If arm fulcrum pivot is worn or other wear or distortion of housing it can leak.

probably need to replace pump

Could be high crank case pressure, what is on your valve cover, a vented cap or something else with your pvc.?
Can you put up a good pic of what you have on the whole valve cover.
 
Hi, we used to pack the cavity with white grease. That may keep oil away from housing Good luck

Any idea why oil would be leaking for the fuel pump? Its not leaking from the gasket where it attached to engine, the pump itself is leaking. I replaced the last pump thinking it was the pump, now the new pump leaks. How is oil getting up in the pump? Do I have crank case pressure pushing it in...

Some people wrongly think that the lever action pumps the fuel, but the cam and lever only pull the diaphragm against the spring and the spring is what pumps the fuel. The diaphragm only moves when fuel flows and the lever recocks it.
