stock 200 im running sae50 with a bottle of lucas oil stabilizer anything else seems to burn a quart a day except this stuff dont gotta put a quart in until about a week and a half.... the blocks being rebuilt with performance parts wonder what viscosity I should use? i live in southern florida

8) i would break the engine in on a straight 30wt mineral oil, then switch to a 10w-30 on the first 3k oil change, and i would use a good synthetic at that point.

SIR, you have a major problem with your engine. was the block bored out & cylinder walls honed properly. what kind of valve guide seals are you using??
sounds like you need to start from the beginning.
Any six cylinder engines or even v-8's use a slight amoint of oil for about 2 thousand miles. a 1/4 to 1/2 qt using 10w-30 oil. do not switch to synthetic oil till the break in period is complete which is about 5000 miles.
good luck with your prodject. good luck william :D

im not positive if anything was done the engine rebuild wise if im not mistaken the only things replaced was the head which is from an older model 200.. when I go to buy sparkplugs I gotta tel them I got a 1983 f-100 with a 300 in it because the plugs for the 200 I'd lose them if I push them 2 far in;)... the head has a crack where the bolts to the exhaust manifold bolt so the exhaust manifold has a blown gasket and wont tyte up... I have to use sae50 atm... im rebuilding the block was wondering what I use then... any additives you guys think are needed for keeping a motor running like new? I use lucas oil stabilizer
