Well, wouldn't you know it. My 'new' 250 appears to have been the beneficiary of an "Oklahoma" overhaul -- a valve job and a can of spray paint.
mikeson asked if he could use my short block to finalize the gear-drive installation, and naturally, I said yes. Well, Mike asked if I could pull the head and accessories to make it easier to move around, so I pulled the head. The pistons had been cleaned up and the head looks like it has had a valve job, but the lifter galley was still pretty gunked up and there were no signs of honing in the bores.
Oh well, at least the price was reasonable. I'm going to vat the short block, and do the usual things before turning it over to Mike.
