Oxygen sensor location

I adding an oxygen sensor to my exhaust to go in hand with the Air/Fuel gauge. How far down the header pipe, from the manifold, do I get the bung added?
Thanks,
Ken

AS close to the engine as possible.
It will start working faster after a cold start and won't quit working at a idle as it can if it cools off.

8) you want the O2 sensor as close to the manifold collector as possible for best results. this is regardless of whether you are using a HEGO sensor or not. thus the best place for the O2 sensor is either just below the exhaust manifold collector in the down pipe, or in the header collector if you are using headers.

For dual exhaust, quickfuel sells a setup that uses two sensors that can either be read individually, or averaged together. Runs around $450.

Just to be clear, are we talking narrow band or wideband? Narrow band needs to be as close to the motor as possible. Wide band needs to be a fixed distance from the motor - I think 3' is common. If you put a wide band by the motor, you'll bake it.

:? RE:Two O2 sensors. With a dual exhaust, why not put a connector pipe between the dual pipes("H"style),and put the bung there and sniff the exhaust from both pipes?
Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

I believe that the kit with dual sensors is for better tuning of straight duals. But could prove effective if you have dual out headers before the x-pipe, like if you had multi carbs on a straight six maybe a secondary runs rich or lean rather than rejeting all of them.
