OK, so I've always been partial to very sharp aircleaners under the hood. After all, they are a very dominant structure most of the time, so mine has to be very cool looking. My OZ2502V buildup is almost done and I'm not topping this gorgeous ceramic coated intake and POLISHED Holley 2V 2300 500CFM carb with some run of the mill chrome circle! I want something that will stand out and grab the attention this motor deserves.

Here are my thoughts (plus my rough Photoshop versions)...

1. a sharp, ball milled cobra style setup with red enamled in the mill lines:

2. a oval shape with milled flames also red enamled

3. a scoop: either a Holley-Wieand style like this:

or a Harley scoop!

(The guy selling that Harley scoop fits them to Holley carbs and has done lots...says they look awesome)

What do y'all think?

PS: that motor in #3 is Mike's, not mine, but mine looks VERY similar! just not in the car yet!

I'm running an aftermarket custom Harley air cleaner with a K&N. It fit perfectly on the carb and under the hood and has been giving me no problems at all. Because it's from a cycle, it's a look that most people will ask about since they don't know what it is from.

Dude, I gotta have a photo of that!!!

You are running the stock 1V carb right? I'd need to fab up an adapter plate if I went with the Harley scoop. I've got a Holley 2V 2300 to fit.

the expensive one IS the nicest...ofcourse

I do like the flame one. its different

but the Holley scoop....LOOKS MEAN AND AGRESSIVE

hows the price on that one?

Not to be a party pooper or nuthing, but a 'bug-catcher' under the hood looks kinda dumb, and I wouldn't cut a hole in the hood to make it stick out either! Unless you're gonna have a roots blower or something....

Just my $.02

I'm leaning toward the oval ball milled with red enamled grooves.

That what I was partial too as well.... I guess it just depends on what your 'theme' is gonna be.. it would go great with a finned valve cover as well...

The theme is "no way is that a 6 under the hood!" then "DANG that's the nicest looking 6 I've ever seen!"

LOL

I am working on a BLUE theme under my hood.

once (if I ever get to it) put a 2bbl, I will look for cool air cleaners

does the flame one come in blue?

Hehe..the flame one comes in any color you feel like taking the time to apply! That red in my image was thrown in with Photoshop really quickly and messily! The finished product would look a heck of a lot better than that!

that explains why, after looking thru 18 pages of ebay stuff for sale from that guy, I couldnt find the damn red one....

4WD Snorkel.

What about having a silversmith make up a hand-beaten/chased top for the Cobra style?
