Hey all,
I have a 66 Mustang 3 speed stick 200 six cylinder basically all stock. That said in the future I was looking to ditch my Load o matic distributor , I am plannning on using a 68 distributor( I have an nos one) My question is which pertronix Ignitor would I use? I have read that part# 1266 is for 65-67 W/O Smog. and 1261 is for 64-73 . I was wondering which would be the correct one to get? Thanks

As A side note I know that getting away from the LOM Dist I am suppossed to use a carb without a Spark control valve. Is it possible to use a carb with a spark control valve, but remove the valve and simply plug the hole with a brass plug? I have a few 1100's(with and without valves) and 1 1101. I was hoping to use the 1101 but it has a Spark control valve.

I'm hoping to order a Pertronix very soon (as in Monday),I was hoping some one had some input. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Check this out...

Pertronix recommends 12 volts to the coil, but with the inconvient resistor wire, Pink wire, under the dash you'll probably get around 9 volts to the coil. The Ignitor module recommends the 1.5 ohm coil, Ignitor II recommends the FlameThrower II coil at 0.6 ohms. The FlameThrower III coil is at 0.32 ohms.

Using the 0.32 ohm coil you can get away with leaving the pink wire in, which has 1.3 to 1.4 ohm of resistance. Of course that 40 year old wire degrades over time, so you'll still want to replace it eventually. I just wanted to point out the differnce in coils.
