Hello,

I'm rebuilding a 200 '79 D8-block to replace my original 200 '65. (look to topic "valves" Posted: Thu Sep 30, 2004 7:10 pm for more info)

I've taken pictures of the valveseats.
I'm almost sure it's one piece cast iron. I wanna replace the with ceramic seats, is this possible? Where can i find them? I've been lookin on FSPP but can't find them in the online catalog.

I'm not sure if Mike (FSPP) stocks hardened seats. Don't know if I have heard of ceramic seats myself. Maybe they are in fact sintered metal?

Mike does offer the stainless performance valves. Hardened (metal) valve seats may be found in many suppliers' catalogues - I believe companies like Summit Racing offer them, too. There are also "generic" ones from places like Japan, that are available to rebuilders. I have found Japanese parts to generally be of extremely high quality (we have a range of valves, bearings and universal joints here), so if this is the final option don't be too afraid!

BTW, I would suggest thinwall bronze valve guides with the spiral groove, but others prefer cast iron with a plain bore.

Regards, Adam.
