Pistons For 200 Rod Combo For US 250

I need a little more info on the xflow pistons. Are they a shorter piston than a standard US 250 piston or are they just a better design? Seems I read they were good to use with the 200 rods setup. If they are not shorter, Is there enough room in the top of the cylinders to use them? What's the benefit of the xflow piston VS. the standard piston? Thanks...

Don't know about x-flow pistons, but the US version 250 and 200 share the exact same piston. There's good info in the Falcon Performance Manual on this subject as well in this forum.

Yea, I've seen the ACL pistons. Any idea how much they run? I don't have the rods yet. They seem to be difficult to locate. On the xflow piston, I understood they would work bringing the deck height to zero and gaining some of the inherent quality of Ford's R & D. Now that I think about the ones listed, they are after market and would not have these qualities. Per the ACL piston list, it seems they have the same part number for both US 250's and the xflow. I'm guessing they are the same. You know, the pistons I have are in pretty good shape and one side of me is saying just use them. The cost of the 200 rods, if I can find them, and the ACL pistons really ups the anty. Are the aussie 200 rods better than US rods? Are there any known off brand rod/piston combos that could work giving me some increased rod length benefits. Reading up on Xtaxi's post concerning this really sparked my interests. He has a way of doing that. With all the rods and pistons out there, there has to be a good combo out there. I also found the developement on anti slap pistons really cool. It would be great to figure out how to use and gain some of these bene's...

PS. Anyone have a set of Aussie 200 rods they'd be willing to part with?

ACL pistons with fileback rings are about $450/set - take 25% off for US dollars.

6MKRY 9412H is the code for file-fit hypers suit a 200 rod set. 8.6cc dish and stock oversizes of 20, 30 and 40 thou.

Just to clarify some things. Aussie 200 rods are 6.27 inches long. Aussie 250 rods are 5.88 inches long. Aussie 200 crank has a 3.13 inch stroke and a 250 has 3.91 stroke.
The pistons are the same for both the Aussie 200 and 250, even the crossflow and pre-crossflow use the same piston.
When you use the 200 rod with a 250 crank you must use the custom made ACL pistons Part # 6MKRY9412 or 6MKRY9413 with the raised pin height to compensate for the longer rods.
I hope this helps.

yeah cant use standerd pistons.
i have a set of 200 rods which are avilable
also the acl pistons are lighter then anyother cast/hyperacte pistons on the market in australia anyway.
the longer rods also has anther benifit other then zero decking the longer rod allows more rpm up high and increase torque as well.
so a set of acl pistons 200rods with arp rod bolts and a blanced crank to suit is good for 6000+rpm.
acl also makes a lot of pistons for production cars like ford out here
