Basically is the Pontiac blower's output - boost specs useful for 200 to 250 cid engines for street and/or strip applications?. The 3.8 Pontiac is between the 3.3 and 4.1 Ford small block sixes. Maybe someone has used one for the popular Chevy inline 250?....

The L67 Super chargers first came out in 205 form, then quickly progressed to a 225 hp version. First were M62's, then 270 hp M90's in the Series II engines. The kit was a front drive Buick GM3800 option, then it became an Aussie Holden Commodore option for many years. The last US version was a 260 hp L32 Supercharged.

Its used with a different nose, from Yella Terra, and balldrickin his posts below (see viewtopic.php?f=22&t=56560 ) uses one of the Series ii M90 Eaton III items. US guys can get anything to fit any engine bay for an Eaton, too.

I don't use it on my engines, its too small and heats up too much, hurting hp for very strong engine combos, but any thing upwards of 85 cubic inches or 1.4 liters in positive displacement in two or three blade form can make 230 to 300 hp if you do it right. The factory GM 3800 205 to 225 hp rating is good for the M62, the 260 to 270 for the M90.

An Eaton 112 will make more than 270 hp, but the stock distributor body then gets in the way. Taking it out allows you to fit the M112, and you'll get the 425 hp I do with ease.

A cost effective supercharger is a replacement for power by other means, such as port on port carburation like triple Webers. You'll still need good carburation to support it, though given your abilities, that's not a problem.

I figure even stock four bearing 170 cube engines with C1 casting heads can run out to 280 flywheel hp with three DCOE 45's and the right cam, so your supercharger should be sized to eclipse the triple carb hp figures.



Our modified XU1 GTR 202 Holden race cars started out with 216 net hp from a factory Yella Terra CNC machined heads with 195 hp gross with triple CDS 175's. Triple 45DCOE carbs would take them to 245 to 295 flywheel hp with much better, worked 12 port Yella Terra heads, then with developement ran to a huge 370 hp with the better Phil Irving or Joe Zullo JZ/ Frank Duggan alloy heads and a good set of 48 or 50 mm DCO's or 48 DellOrtos. So any good supercharger for a hot 200 cubic engine should exceed those figures, depending on the tune.



Our Aussie Mopar 265 Hemis with 306 degree cams and DCOE 45's with 40 mm venturis gave and independently tested 295 hp net at 5300 rpm right off the production line, even though rated at something like just 302 hp gross, so your supercharger needs to exceed that.




I know it all depends on what you want.

For instance, my mates 3.8 5 speed Commodore came alive with just a 1.4 liter Ogura SC14 85 Cid twin blade blower, it yielded 230 hp, up from the NZ spec 177 hp, but it would heat up. But he'd run it off the A/C circuit so it would be 177 until he needed the extra 53 flywheel horsepower, and it was 700 NZ bucks to buy the kit, and 400 bucks to get the supercharger. So it would be ideal for a modified stock log 250 with the right induction system. Its size would have been a problem if it was hooked up all the time, but it wasn't, and it was the best fun, even better than his Fox Mustang sized 4.1 EFi Cross Flow Cortina with 185 hp and 250 pounds less with a 5 speed and 2.92:1 gears.

My thinking is since good cylinder head air flow yields more power with not much more rpm, then why would you bolt on just a 62, or 90 cubic inch per rev Supercharger. It tends to limit power too much, hurt economy. I'd just look at the anecdotals of the guys here who have used M90's...they don't go beyond 300 flywheel hp.
