Problems with new 1101 install

Just finished installing what I believe is an Autolite 1101 on my 68 Mustang 200 (California car). I have 3 questions:

1. What type threads are on the fuel inlet? A Ford fuel filter will not screw in all the way due to clearance with the large hex on the filter. I made an adapter using a 1/8 npt nipple and a 1/8 npt coupler. Everything seals except right at the carb. Did this carb originally have an adapter?

2. The carb seems to run good. (used remanfactured bought on ebay) But it stalls when I stomp on the pedal. I only see dribbles coming from the accelerator pump, not a solid stream. Is this normal? Or could it be another issue?

3. How do I know if my carb and/or my distributer are SCV? I read that 68's are not SCV, but also read that California Emissions cars were still SCV. I'm confused and ignorant.

I had fun boring out the spacer so the larger butterflies would clear. I left the garage looking like the Tin Man, covered in silver aluminum shavings.

You may find the carb inlet thread is "parallel pipe" rather than NPT. This avoids cracking the cast metal.

The SCV is an octagonal thingy about 1" across the flats, appended to the side of a carb. Other giveaway on SCV carbs is (usually) flare fittings and a steel line between the carb and distributor.

Look for the recent thread started by "Mac" to see what the Load-o-Matic distributor looks like. One key identifier is a coarse spring visible when the cap's removed.

Regards, Adam.
