I just got a few goodies in the mail and one of the things I am trying to rig up is a Summit Fuel pressure gauge to my Holley regulator... the problem is the fittings do not match....

HERE IS THE REGULATOR...

Here is the side by side fitting....

You can see the regulator has a port for the 3/8 inch fittng on the fuel line, but this guage has a smaller thread? Can I get an adapter fitting to allow the smaller guage to thread into the larger regulator connection?

I know this seems like a small matter, but for a newbie this can present a problem if I do not know what I am looking for, I am headed off tomorrow to look for adapters for fuel fittings? I also need to run some small connections for this to the carb, and I am terrible at flaring tube ends, can I get small sections of pre-made lines? In like three inch segments? or bends to keep from having to make my own?

You need a 3/8 NPT x 1/8 NPT bushing. All the speed shops have them in alloy, but you can find them at the local Home Despot in brass and steel. Look in the plumbing section.

let me know how the holley works out as I am getting one soon so I can run my 1100 on the holley pump. costs almost as much as a new pump so I figured this would be easier. I am suprised the reg didn't have a 1/8" NPT port for a gauge anyway.

Believe that may be because it's set up to be a second fuel feed, rather than a tap for a pressure gauge. If you had a dual feed holley, or multiple carbs, it makes some twisted kind of sense

On the stupid little race car, I run a -6 line from the regulator to an inline filter, then to a male-male AN union with a central section drilled for the gauge. Then a ruduction fitting to a -4 to feed the carbs.

I need some advice on this, so I tried to run this regulator tonight just as a test, and the thing does not even come close to fitting...

according to Summit this is a 3/8 port regulator 1-4 adjustable...

The threads seem to be at least 1/2 inch or better....

Is this for 3/8 fuel line? Did I get the wrong one.
And do I even need this, I was told to add it because it would give me control, I thought I only needed that with an electric pump. If I am using the stock pump do I even need this?

I have seen rubber lines run straight from the pump to the carb, I am running a holley 5200 2v, with plans to upgrade to a 2300 if needed.

I would like to setup an electric pump and regulator with the pressure gauge, but I am not sure what I need to make this work, this regulator seems like the wrong one.

It is Holley PN: 12-804

Suggestions.....

You do not need a regulator. All you have to do is run the line from the stock pump to the carb. If you want to use a gauge in between it is up to you. If you put the gauge after the fuel filter you can at least tell if your filter is getting clogged.

If you decide to use a electric pump at the gas tank and remove the stock pump you still Do Not need a regualtor. Just get the lowest rating electric. 7 psi? I do not remember. But if you do run electric they are a bit noisy.

I am referring to an old post here, but I was told if the pressure was more than 4psi it would blow the needle off the seat on a Holley carb?

I am probably ditching the thing and returning it for a inline hose pipe for the gauge... I can run up over the intake bracket like Mustangaroo has on his setup..... that should be fine for now....

Someday I will look into running a metal setup for vacume and fuel....
