The reviewer states that the throttle plates of the 5200 will scrape against the Stovebolt adapter unless a 1/4" gasket is used. For you 5200 owners using a Stovebolt, have you found this to be true? If so, did you use a thick gasket, or did you do something else?

I'm flip-floppin' on whether I want to go with a Carter RBS or the 5200 (using a Stovebolt modified to mount directly on the log). Honestly, carbs scare me... too many things can go FUBAR solely by "operator error."

Anyway... thanks in advance.

The throttle plates didn't scrape using the 2>1 Bbl "stovebolt" adapter with a proper gasket . I did have a minor clearance problem in that the two studs sticking up form the manifold opening were too long for the adaptor and interfered where it flares to the 2 Bbl opening. I cut two cork gaskets from some gasket material to place between the manifold and the adaptor and it fit fine.

Lots of good info about the 5200 swap in the " Holley/Weber 32/36 Jetting Tips" sticky at the top of the forum

I've had interference problems with 1Bbl YF's unless the OEM THICK gasket is used.

i used a transdapt adapter from summit racing for my 5200. so far so good 8)

What's the TransDapt part number for that adapter?

the 1960's I6's have a smaller hole where for the carb so i think your engine needs a diffrent sized adapter.

Bengoshi2000 not sure if this influences you or not but here it goes goes i have been having some take off problems with my rbs it would konk out on hard acceleration from a standstill fearing my trouble free days of the carter were vanishing i took it apart and it is by far the simplest carb i have ever seen even simpler than the holley 5200 even though its a 2bbl anyway on the rbs there is a small spring inside the carbureter that pushes the accelerator pump on mine a 30 year old spring wore out and broke therefore making the carb flood because it simply could not rebound fast enough on a quick take off. this is the only problem i have had and it was a simple carb to rebuild dissasembly and rebuild took about 30 minutes.
