I'm trying to find out if there was ever a rear swump pan for the 223 OR if I can simply turn the pan around? The pan looks symetrical (although I haven't done any measuring), so that would mean less cutting and welding. I realize the pump pick-up would also need to be addressed, but if there was a rear sump option on, say, cars or cabovers, it would theoretically mean a pick-up would be available. Or at least something to go off of, for a new one.
I believe the earlier 215/223's had a rear sump, but this is for a '63 with the dizzy and pump in the forward location, hence a front sump. I haven't pulled the pan yet to really see what I'm getting into, and the pics I've seen don't show too much detail in relation to the pump/pick-up areas, so I'm sorta flying blind right now.
Any ideas?
