anyone have exp with rebuilt cyl heads from the parts stores napa, advance auto, and autozone

with the cyl heads from autozone they have 2 listed 1 by moores and 1 by recon
that has a 3 angle vavle job which id like to get what can anyone tell about there qual? 8)

Get the price and then go to a local engine shop and see how much they would charge. Go with the cheaper. I haven't used those places specifically for heads, but I have used similiar places for rebuilt engines in the past and had reasonable success.

autoz core is 100 on both of the heads
moores 256
recon 336

napa core 123 and 344 for the head

advance auto was 256-76 for the head the core was 100-30

it would be around 350 local maybe more

with autozs recon head in its discrip. it said it has a 3 angle vavle job and a head from the parts store would be the quickest way of doing things 8)

ty for the replys :)

Those prices are really good, wonder if they include replacing valve guides. I know when I looked at having my head rebuild it was $250 and that only included replacing up to 2 guides, anymore that were worn would be more.

it does cobra as far as i know a friend of mine has a 90-1 f150 with a 300 that had a bad head his unc. before he gave him the truck changed the head with one from a parts store and it was a compl. head dont know where his unc. got it from tho :?

I'd check out some machine shops. I didn't pay that much with all new valves, rocker shaft, springs (V8), milled .04 and light porting. Took him mine and it came back 2 days later at just over $300.

hotrodbob; Can you tell me who did the head work and were you happy with them? I'm in Burbank too, and my Falcon is going to need some attention pretty soon. Thanks! :D
