im just wondering if i should also replace the conrods at the same time this head only has about 1000km on it has been shaved to up the compression and was built for lpg i run unleaded but may have to run pulp

lemme know

conrods=pushrods, lifters= rockers.

The head is okay, the pushrods need to be specials 50 thou shorter, and the rockers are okay as is. Rev limit should be 4500 rpm on an XF engine with low-drag pistons, or up to 5300 rpm max on the 1976 to 1984 engines. The studs can pull out over this speed. For some reson the 76 to 84 3.3 can hack well over 5500 rpm without problems.

PULP is the go...avoid the big bang. Cross -flows can cary a lot of squeaze, but even the stocker ones before 1985 had a 9.35:1 copmression ratio. Any skim could take it to close to 10:1, and it'd need PULP for sure. The inital advance is very stiff for the first 2000 rpm of the rev range, and then its not that large. It won't like the compression. Most times, you have no warning on a cross-flow if its pinking or detonating. Things like Chryslers or Holdens, you hear it. With a Falcon, the noise is not desernable, and before you know it your main bearings can be hammered to heck.

Dunno about the rest of the engine. The cluey guys are aware of what to do if you are specific enough. I just follow rebuilding instructions like the spooney guy from Dexters Lab and throw expensive componets and dollar bills at my engines.
:shock:
