Reusing a used cam

Hello!

I recently obtained a used but in good condition Clifford cam with 274dur and about .450" lift with stock rockers.

My question is if I dont know which lifter goes on what lobe dont I risk wiping a lobe due to differences in wear patterns on the lifter foot?

If I recall correctly it is OK to use new lifters on a old cam or the old lifters on the old cam as long as the old lifters are matched to the lobe they came off of.

Yup, you're right,

Old cams need new lifters. The idea being that the cam lobes are worn to match the lifters. If you can't match the lifters to the lobes, then it is best to replace them.

Pour LOTS of oil or cam break-in lube on it for extra insurance.

Good Luck

Thats true what Dennis said but pop one of those lifters out....I coulda swore that I numbered them on the non machined part with a sharpie marker.

I do remember spraying WD 40 on them a couple of times though....maybe it washed them off.....
