Rochester BC

I found a Rochester BC carb on an old '63 Chevy Bel Air with the 235 I6 in it sitting back in some woods. Car has easily been back there 30+ years and is flipped over hanging off the side of a cliff. Anyway, I was wondering what CFM this carb is? I've never seen where anyone else is running one of these on their ford 6...I brought it home and rebuilt it last night and stuck it on my 200 today. Bolted right on, had to weld a lever on for the throttle cable. It runs very well, just a little rich.

I guess on the plus side it didn't have any gas sitting in it over the years being upside down, although salvage must have been interesting Rochester made some good, reliable 1bbl carbs.

I happen to have this page marked for the formula references, but down the page it mentions that the cfm on a mid 60's BV (which is similar) is 167.

Jamie, I find this interesting in that I have a Chevy inline six (230ci.) in a 67' Chevelle, that has a "stock" Rochester 1-barrel carb. I also have a Ford 200ci engine currently with a Autolite 1100 carb. Not too long ago I bought a back-up Rochester carb for the Chevelle that I plan on rebuilding. I am not sure if the cfm on your Rochester would be the same as my carb since you say your carb came off of a 235ci (63' Bel-Air) and my engine is a 230ci; I will see if I can find out what the cfm is on my carb and post it. Did you say that your Rochester was a direct bolt-on to your 200ci engine; other than some throttle linkage modifications??? I am interested in how well your carb performs on your engine???
