Just reassmbled after haveing the HG on my 90 300 blowing (head was fine just gasket), got head machined just to be safe.
Got all back together yesterday start her up and shakes something awful and stalls after around a minute.
Today have checked codes (not engine related, brake check and FP curcit), pulled plugs and they concern me.
1-3: black soot (dry)
4-6: covered in fuel (wet)

Is a bit of smoke that yesterday would come from front header, and out valve cover w/ cap off; today noticed it in puffs up the oil dipstick (was all the way in).

EDIT:
Sorry wrong forum but I'll take the help.

SOUDNS LIKE YOUR TIMING IS OFF 180....
oops...caps, sorry

like who ever decked or mille dit did it wrong...

I DO NOT KNOW THIS

my first thought was your timing was offf....and that easy to adjust

How easy to adjust it, I'm familar only with DIS and OBD-II.
Looks to be 60* or more off is this easy to do w/o tearing down.

I'm a dummy but when that happened to me it was a big vacuum leak

Find TDC and see where the rotor is in relation to the 1 plug wire, if it is off turn distributer and get it close to factory specs and set it from there....... that is assuming you have the timing chain set right.

Suggestion how to get to TDC w/o removing upper. Some reason this seems like a dumb question but lack of sleep I think is getting to me.

To find TDC pull out the #1 spark plug; place a finger over the plug hole and turn the engine over until it comes up on the compression stroke (you will feel air blowing on your finger). Then check to see if the rotor in the distributor is pointing at the #1 terminal on the cap.

Just adjusted timing to as close to 0 as I could and ~0 change. Got to feeling on the engine and ther front header is gawd awfully hot and the back is cold?

wait, you were supposed to find 0 degrees and start from there and adjust it to approx 8-10 degrees

how did it run at 0 degrees?

Ran the same at 0, odd thing was checked it and it read about 14.

#6 intake rocker is loose no matter the crank postion (well did tighten up in one spot. Oil does not seem to be right color either.

Unplugged injector #1 to test with noid and ran better (think was only on either 2-3 or 2-5, probly 2,3)

You have something very basic that is eluding you. It's time to get back to the fundamentals and eliminate them one by one. As MustangSix wrote, check timing (including valve timing), check compression, check for vacuum leaks. Did you check for proper rotation of the distributor and install the plug wires accordingly? If your valves are adjusted too tight it will give you fits.

Believe I found in that intake spring. Checked the clearance and at all but the one location it has .089", so pulling head off and takeing back to the shop.
Little irratated though they checked it for flatness/cracks and that was all, course I only told to them to. Guess this is what happens when you assume.

good mechanics and machinists are VERY hard to find these days. people now just go "gotta buy a new one...duh"
